These images are selected from a 3 volume letter book describing travels through Europe and the Middle-East in 1850, complete with illustrations and flower pressings.   Among the events described are a meeting with the Pope and tours of many major cities, including Istanbul, Cairo, Alexandria, and Jerusalem.   This diary has been fully transcribed and is published here for the first time.
